Hello PNBS Families,

We are reaching out to let you know that with the cold weather we are experiencing in Seattle it is highly likely that the warming shelter within Exhibition Hall (the space directly beneath the Phelps Center) will be activated starting tomorrow night, Thursday the 22nd, through the morning of Wednesday January 28th.

The Salvation Army will operate the building, which is being opened as an emergency severe weather shelter at the request of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) in partnership with the City of Seattle.

From dusk onwards Salvation Army staff will be present to ensure the Phelps Center and all of our students are undisturbed. We are coordinating with our own security team and Seattle Center Security to ensure we are able to operate with no interruptions.

That being said, we ask that students and families exercise extra vigilance during this time, particularly in the early mornings and evenings. Students being picked up must remain in the building until they see their parent arrive. Students who drive themselves to class should make sure they are always with a buddy as they leave the campus at night.

We strongly recommend saving the Seattle Center Emergency Services Unit (ESU) phone number to call in case you run into any issues, if you see something suspicious while on the grounds or in Seattle Center facilities, please report it immediately to ESU at 206-684-7272 or Call 911.

Please also let PNBS staff know immediately if you see or experience something unsafe on the way in and out of the Phelps Center. Email documentation is also helpful in our communication with Seattle Center. PNB Front Desk: 206-441-9411; PNB School Office: 206-441-2435

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
