Dear Students and Families of Level VI,
My name is Ms. Stone and I am the instructor for Modern and New Voices at PNB (Phelps Center.) I had the wonderful opportunity to teach Level VI Modern for a few weeks back in September.
You may or may not be aware of a special course that is offered to Level VII and Level VIII students at PNB. It’s called New Voices: Choreography and Process for Young Women in Dance. I created this course in 2018 with the purpose of educating and supporting the next generation of female choreographers. In this yearlong class, the students are given tools to help access their creativity and then are asked to create their own work based on the information given during the course. The students of New Voices I have two in-studio presentations a year featuring both solo and duet work.
As a way of introducing this course to incoming students, New Voices is coming to the FRC!
I’d like to invite you all to a showing of choreography by the New Voices I (Level VII) students! This showing will give all current Level VI and incoming Level VII students an opportunity to see some of the wonderful work the students of New Voices have created. We will also reserve time to ask questions about the course, its process, and how it supports the training at PNB. This is a free event!
