Student Rental Request Forms

Good Evening PNB Families!

As auditions near, we want to remind our families that you can rent a studio from either location to record a video or take pictures for an upcoming audition. Attached in this post is our Student Rental Request Form. This form will need to be filled out in advance and emailed to the school for approval. Due to the number of students this year, we cannot accommodate walk in requests. Students are allowed one parent to come in for the rental. Please provide two dates on the form with the times available for your student to come in.

If you need a faculty member for your rental, please note this on the email when you send in the request. Not all rentals can guarantee a faculty member to be present. If you need a faculty member, this will be a $50 per hour charge not included in the base rental price. If you are renting with others, all students must fill out the rental form first and email the school for approval. Only 1 student will have to pay for the rental. There is a max of 2 students per rental. Rentals start at $40 an hour with a 90-minute max per session. Photographs start at $20 for 30 minutes. We will be unavailable to accept student rentals over the winter break.

Here is the link to the form: Student Rental Request Form 2025-26

Please email the school if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Reminder! Nutcracker Audition This Sunday!

Don’t forget, The Nutcracker Audition is this Sunday 9/28!!

Dear PNB Families,

As fall weather settles in and our studios fill with excited students, teachers, and the familiar music of ballet classes, our attention turns to PNB’s annual production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. The audition is right around the corner, so we wanted to reach out to our PNBS families with helpful information about casting, rehearsals, performances, roles, and the audition process.

We intend to use as many students as possible this year. We will continue to utilize “swing” roles and will communicate those in the initial casting process. Students considered for Party Kids and Polichinelles may be cast in a role that doesn’t match their gender identity (e.g., girls may be cast as Party Boys or Polichinelle Boys). This is consistent with past practices for PNB’s Nutcracker, and standard for Nutcracker productions all over the country. All students, including those cast in swing roles, will have performance dates. Casting decisions are based on height, performing ability, musicality, technique, presence, and behavior.

Students must be no taller than 5’2” at the audition time. Students injured on the audition date are not eligible to audition for The Nutcracker. All casting decisions are made by the Artistic Staff. While we encourage all eligible students to audition, we do not have roles for every student who auditions. Please discuss the possibility of disappointment with your child before the audition.

While participation in The Nutcracker is a rewarding experience for a young dancer, it does require a considerable commitment of time and energy from the entire family at a busy time of year. Please consider the following before your child auditions for The Nutcracker.

  • Students are expected to be available for the entire rehearsal and performance period from October 6 through December 28, 2025. Please do not have your child audition if you anticipate any conflicts during that time.
  • We cannot excuse students from rehearsals or performances for vacations, family events, school events, etc.; the only acceptable reasons for missing rehearsal or performances are illness, injury, and family emergencies.
  • Auditioning for The Nutcracker is a commitment from the student and parent. Dropping out of the production for any reason, other than illness, injury, or family emergency (including dissatisfaction with casting), is a break in the child’s commitment. The student will not be able to participate the following year if the commitment is broken.
  • All rehearsals and performances will be at the Phelps Center and McCaw Hall.
  • Students are expected to attend regular PNB School classes whenever possible around their rehearsal and performance schedule.

Parents’ participation is essential to the success of The Nutcracker. All parent volunteers must complete a background check to be eligible for a volunteer position. Assignments will be made by Student Cast and Parent Volunteer Coordinator Lauren Kirchner.

In the event of a widespread health concern during rehearsals or performances, PNB reserves the right to implement safety protocols such as masking and/or testing. Masking is always an option for those who choose it. Please click here for detailed information on auditions and a general schedule, including rehearsals and performance dates and important meetings. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 28.

Sincerely,

Peter Boal & Artistic Staff

Artistic Director

!!High Importance!! New WA State Tax Information

Hello PNBS Families,

We’re reaching out to inform you about an important change to Washington State sales tax regulations that will take effect on October 1, 2025.

The Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) will begin requiring that sales tax be applied to “live presentations,” which includes in-person instruction.

Tuition accounts are exempt from tax until March 31st. Any installment payments processed after March 31st will be subject to tax.

To help you avoid this, we are happy to adjust your payment schedule to ensure your tuition is paid in full before the deadline.

  • No tax will apply if your tuition is already paid in full or if you are on the biannual payment plan.
  • Monthly installment plans can be adjusted to:
    • Six larger payments from October to March
    • Biannual payments, half charged now, and your balance paid in full by January 15th
    • Payment in full processed now
  • For Duet, Tots, Creative Movement – Quarter 4 payments will now be charged Monday, March 30th (instead of April 6th) to avoid tax on your tuition

If you have any questions or would like to adjust your payment plan to minimize the impact of this change, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Registrar at pnbschool@pnb.org or by calling 206-441-2435 (Seattle) or 425-451-1241 (Bellevue).

*The DOR gives some examples of live presentations (Interim guidance statement regarding changes made by ESSB 5814 for live presentations | Washington Department of Revenue):

Live presentations include, but are not limited to, the following types of activities:

  • Courses, classes, seminars, workshops, or other programs for personal or professional enrichment such as art, music, choir, pottery, business and marketing, cooking, and CPR classes or lessons.
  • Continuing professional education including: continuing legal education, continuing medical education, continuing education for trades, continuing education for teachers, etc.
  • Driving education courses or lessons.

Media weeks!! 9/29-10/11

Hello PNBS students and families!

We are giving everyone a heads up that media weeks will be starting this coming Monday September 29th and will go through Saturday October 11th! The purpose for media weeks is for our marketing team to gather video content and photos for PNBS social media as well as marketing and promotional use.

During these two week we ask that all students come looking their best with their hair neatly done and the correct class uniform. Our videographers and photographers will be coming in and out of a variety of classes. It is not guaranteed that they will make it to every class to film or photograph. It completely depends on their schedule and what our marketing team needs. Either way, be ready for them them just incase!

If you have any questions, please reach out to the school email (pnbschool@pnb.org)

Thank you!
