PGA Holiday Giving Campaign

Dear Parents and Guardians of PNB Students,

As mentioned in my previous letter, another great way to support PNB School is via the Parent/Guardian Association’s Holiday Giving Campaign.

The Holiday Giving Campaign

As parents and guardians, we understand the important role education plays in the lives of our children. While offering the highest caliber education, the Pacific Northwest Ballet School remains committed to keeping ballet training accessible. In upholding this commitment, tuition covers only 75% of the actual cost of operating PNBS. The most important way you can help us fill this gap between tuition and operating costs is by making a donation to the Holiday Giving Campaign.  Your gift helps ensure high-quality dance instruction for your child, live music in each class, a dedicated team of professional teachers, and high-quality studio facilities.

Please consider supporting Pacific Northwest Ballet School by making a gift today. Your support is an important investment in PNB School.  Please click this link to donate:   https://www.pnb.org/support/parents-annual-fund-campaign/

Some of the areas where your money will go include the following:

  • Highest level of instruction available
  • Live piano accompaniment in all classes
  • Scholarships for those in need
  • Musical instruments and educational props in class to enhance rhythm and movement
  • Choreography instruction for New Voices Program (Levels VII-VIII)
  • Mentorship program for Level VI+ dancers with PNB company dancers

The first class in at the Phelps Center (Seattle) and Francia Russell Center (Bellevue) that achieves 100% participation in donating to our Holiday Giving Campaign by December 31st will receive a masterclass and/or Q&A with one of PNB’s very own Principal Dancers! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity for your child’s class to be taught and mentored by one of the PNB dancers they’ve seen grace the McCaw Hall stage in their favorite performances. When you submit your gift, please make a note of your dancer’s name, level and if they attend in Seattle or Bellevue.  Please click this link to donate:  https://www.pnb.org/support/parents-annual-fund-campaign/

Did you know that your gift to PNBS can be matched by your employee giving program? Simply send the necessary forms from your company along with your gift to double its impact and increase your benefits.

Thank you so much for your continued support in helping PNB School continue to provide its students with the highest level of dance education and life enrichment in the arts. Please join with the Parent Guardian Association to make this a successful campaign for all of our children.

Please contact Katie Bell duong_bell@comcast.net, PGA Fundraising committee chair or LiLi Pigott, Annual Fund Manager at LPigott@pnb.org or 206.441.3593 with any questions about the Holiday Giving Campaign.

We look forward to working with all of you this year and thank you for your support!

Parent/Guardian Association Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians of PNB Students,

I hope that all of you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday.

My name is Paige Davis and my daughter, Chloe Crick, is a Level V student at PNB. It is my privilege to serve as your PNB Parent / Guardian Association (the “PGA”) President for the 2022-23 school year. Other parent volunteers on the 2022-23 PGA Leadership Team include: Katie Bell, Brandyn Boyd, Carly Buwalda, Laurie Elofson, Frances King, Agnes Montejano, Adam Rainone, and Porsha Robinson. Additional members of the PGA Leadership Team include: Sue Buske (PNB Board of Trustees), Denise Bolstad (PNB School Managing Director), Andrea Abercrombie (School Supervisor) and Wendy Casper (Assistant to the Managing Director).

If you have any ideas, comments or questions for any member of the Leadership Team throughout the school year, you can reach all of us at this e-mail: pnbspga@gmail.com

I am writing today to reintroduce you to the PGA and its purpose, and to highlight volunteer opportunities.

What is the Parent/Guardian Association (PGA)?

The PGA is composed of a number of parents/guardians with dancers in various levels in both Bellevue and Seattle. Through communication and volunteerism, the Pacific Northwest Ballet Parent/Guardian Association (PGA) functions as a support organization for the school, students, and families to further the goal of quality dance education (PGA Mission Statement). The PGA is focusing on Communications, Education, Fundraising, Hospitality and Spirit Gear; and generally assists the School, dancers and families by managing the School Giving Campaign; arranging merchandise sales and distribution for Petite Finale, School Performance, Nutcracker and other student-included programs; assisting with learning opportunities for dancers and families (such as summer course information); organizing PNB School events (like Spring Fling and Teen Night), and generally, acting as a source of information and connection for families at PNB School.

The PGA is parent supported, and we need your help in fulfilling the PGA mission. Those who have put their name forward will be contacted soon about volunteer opportunities. If you have not signed up, but would like to volunteer for future PNB School Events or activities, please sign up here. In addition, you can find information about the PGA and PGA events on the “Parent/Guardian Association Updates” tab of the PNB School Portal.

Look for my next message with information on another great way to support our mission via the Holiday Giving Campaign!

Again, please check out the “Parent/Guardian Association Updates” tab on the School Portal for updates and information, or feel free to contact us at pnbspga@gmail.com or me directly at davisp@lanepowell.com.

We look forward to working with all of you this year!

Paige

Pointe Shoe Tips from the Level VIII Students

Hi Level IV Students!

We hope you are having a good fall and enjoying your pointe classes. By now you are probably becoming more comfortable in your pointe shoes and some of you may even be ready for a second pair of shoes. We’ve made a short video for you with some tips for breaking in new pointe shoes, using jet glue to prolong the life of your shoes, and recognizing when pointe shoes are dead and need to be replaced.

We filmed this video on our day to dress up for Halloween last year, so please excuse the glitter and accessories.

We hope this video is helpful as you’re breaking in your next pair of pointe shoes and please send us any questions you have!

Best,

Your level VIII Mentors

Summer Course Information Fair Announcement

On Monday, December 5th 4:30-5:30, the level VIII students led by Mimi Heffernan, are hosting a Summer Course Information Fair. Seattle students can attend in the Phelps Center Board Room. Bellevue students, along with any parents, can tune in via Zoom.

During the presentation, level VIII students will give an overview of the most attended programs and cover general audition advice and factors to consider in choosing the best summer course. There will be time for Q&A at the end of the presentation. The level VIII mentors will create a document containing surveys completed by the upper-division students evaluating the summer course programs they have attended in the past. That document will be sent out shortly before the fair for families to review.

Although we recommend our level IV and V students attend the Francia Russell Center Summer Course, this is a great opportunity to learn about future opportunities.

Please bring your questions and we’ll do our best to answer them!
