New Voices: Choreography and Process for Young Women in Dance
Welcome, New Voices II Students and Families!
I am deeply excited and grateful for the start of the ninth year of this wonderful program, and I am ready and eager to get our year under way!
As a reminder, I will ask that all students bring a dedicated notebook and writing implement to every class.
We have some exciting events coming up this year. Please make a note in your calendars of the following:
NV II at Community of Kindness: A few NV II students will be asked to perform at the Community of Kindness event on Sunday, October 18 from 1pm-4pm at Mercerdale Park on Mercer Island. This event is in collaboration with PNB’s Dance for All program. Community service hours are available for this event. More information is coming soon.
NVII will be performing an original work (of their making!) at Discover Dance on Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30pm at McCaw Hall. Students should be available from 12noon onwards and all must be available for dress rehearsal at 1:00pm and the 6:30pm performance. Community service hours are available for those who would like to help with the students and setting up the event. Family and friends are all invited to this performance, but more information on tickets will come as time nears.
PopUP!: NV II students will be participating in creating and performing PopUP dances during the intermissions of PNB’s Rep 2. Dates and times as follows:
- Friday Nov 6 @ 7:30pm
- Saturday Nov 7 @ 2:00pm and 7:30pm
- Friday Nov 13 @ 7:30pm
- Saturday Nov 14 @ 2:00pm and 7:30pm
NV II will see Ballet BC performing on Saturday, May 15 at 8pm at Meany Hall. Please save the date
NV I and NV II: Both classes will have choreographic presentations on Wednesday, June 2 in Studio C. NV I will present trio/quartet work starting at 5:30pm. NV II will be presenting repertoire and group work at 7:00pm. All are invited!
I’d like to thank you for your continued support of this important program, and I am looking forward to seeing you at our showings. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a very creative year!
Warmly,
